If your vacation dreams are bigger than your budget, take a look at the sale going on at about three dozen upscale resorts across the United States. Through April 10, Destinations Resorts is holding a sale that promises big savings for stays through the summer—and sometimes even into fall. The only catch: You have to sign up for Destination’s loyalty program to get the deal. (If you've followed our advice, you already have a separate e-mail address for travel e-blasts, right?)
Destination's properties lie on both both coasts and in a few spots in between—from Stowe Mountain Lodge in Vermont to the Wigwam Resort in Phoenix. One property that caught our eye is at the island-bungalow-style Paradise Point in San Diego, which has Mission Bay on one side and Sea World on the other. Regular rates are usually $276 a night in July, but go down to $207—a 26% savings—if you book at least four nights.
We were especially impressed with the deal at Terranea Resort in Palos Verdes, near LA (see our review), where July’s regular $335-a-night rate gets slashed to $189 a night for the sale—this is a more than 40% discount, and in prime season, to boot. Terranea is set on a bluff above the beach, has three pool, a kids club, golf and a spa.
Note that the sale comes with some restrictions, such as minimum stays, pre-paid deposits or a checkerboard of blackout dates for each particular property. The sale runs through April 10 for stays through the summer, with exact dates varying by property. To book online, use promo code D2RHY1, or ask for the deal when calling individual hotels.
