For many families, Puerto Rico makes for an easy way to snag an exotic, international vacation without needing a passport. Seven Hiltons on the Caribbean island are now offering a Puerto Rico is Exciting package that includes:
- 20% discount on hotel rates
- A resort credit on a sliding scale: $25 if you stay two nights, $50/three nights, $75/four nights and $100/five nights
- Discounts on family-friendly tours (for example, fourth person goes free for snorkeling, worth $69)
- $25 casino voucher
Deal or no deal? Si, si! While the tour discounts and casino vouchers are gimmes that you might never use, it’s hard to argue with a 20% price break plus a resort credit. When we checked early summer rates for a few participating resorts, the package delivered on its promised savings. At the El Conquistador Resort, for example, we found a rate of $159 a night—which is indeed $40 (or 20%) off the regular $199-a-night rate for a standard room with two queens. Outside El Yunque Rain Forest, the big beach resort has a huge water park, a private island, a kids' club for ages 4 to 12, a spa and golf.
To take advantage of this package, book by April 30 and travel by October 9. There is a two-night minimum stay. Look for the package when entering dates, then check the “PR is Exciting” box, or use promotion code “P2” whe booking online. Alternatively, mention the deal when calling 888/564-1307. Blackout dates may apply and vary by property.
