Planning a trip to Colorado before the end of this year? Now may be the time to take action and book your stay. The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs is holding a 72-hour sale through Sunday, when you can snag half-price rooms for stays through the end of 2010. You'll also get a choice of either free meals for kids under 10 or a free day-pass to the spa. Since the latter is worth just $24, it will make sense for most families to opt for the free kids' meals, available at six on-site restaurants.
Even at 50% off, this could be considered a bit of a splurge. During the late spring, summer and early fall, regular rates for a standard room start at $445. But when you cut that down to $220—the nightly rate we were for able to find for a variety of dates—and this grande dame resort is suddenly much more reasonable. The 700-room hotel, first opened in 1918, offers two pools, horseback riding, an on-site movie theater, golf, spa, tennis and a kids’ camp. It even has a free shuttle to the Cheyenne Zoo, the country’s highest-elevation zoo, at 6,800 feet above sea level. You're also within easy reach of Pike’s Peak and the historic village of Cripple Creek.
You must book by Sunday, April 18. As always, blackout dates apply (we ran into some when trying to book fall dates). Rates do not include taxes or parking fees. Book using the specials page online or by calling 866/290-4410.
