Saw it on Travelzoo: $79/night at Hyatt Regency Palm Springs

As the temperatures rise in the desert during spring, oh, how those prices fall. Consider, for example, the 60% discount advertised on Travelzoo for the Hyatt Regency Palm Springs, which is celebrating the end of a $15-million renovation. The deal—good only through March 26— promises rates starting at $79/night for any night between Sunday and Thursday, starting in May and going through July.

Located on one of the kitschy city’s busier streets, the 194-room resort is within walking distance of shopping and restaurants (not that you’ll want to be walking anywhere if you come here in the middle of summer). There aren't a lot of on-site activities at this property, beyond a gym and the pool. But really, all you want in Palm Springs come May is that pool. (You’re also just minutes away from the kid-magnet Knotts Soak City waterpark.) The hotel’s 600-square-foot suites, meanwhile, offer a separate bedroom and living area with sleeper sofa, two flat-screen TVs and a balcony.

When we checked rates on the Hyatt web site, and found the special $79 rate for a king or double-double suite, but the regular rate was listed as $149—making this, actually, just a 46% discount. Even so, this is still a hot deal on two counts. Hot savings, definitely. And by May, temperatures will be in the 90s, though Palm Spring is nice about setting up spritzers around town to keep its guests cool(ish).

To get this deal, you must book by March 26. After entering your dates, look for the "Limited Time” rate. Or ask for the "60% off deal" when calling 760/322-9000. The rate is good only for stays between Sunday and Thursday; weekend nights run about $20 more (still under 100 bucks!). Blackout dates include: May 10-16, 22, 28-30 and June 5.

We live in Palm Springs, but still had fun getting a room there one night. It's recently redone from top to bottom and is really nice! Great location too, and a street fair thursday nights is right out front.
