At the turn of the 20th century, the Jekyll Island Club was the winter retreat for an exclusive and powerful group of American millionaires with names like Rockefeller, Morgan, Vanderbilt and Pulitzer. Now a family-friendly resort (see our review), the Jekyll Island Club
offers not only an historic pedigree but a nice array of classic resort activities—golf, tennis, swimming, croquet—plus
kids' programming and fun but low-key adventures just off the grounds. There's good news for bargain-hunting families planning a winter getaway: the hotel is running a winter sale with rates starting at $159 a night for a room with two double beds. That's a 21% savings on the regular $199-a-night pricetag. The sale price is available through March 11, 2010.
Note: As always, some blackout dates apply. The deal does not include the $10.70-a-night resort fee, with covers the housekeeping gratuity, in-room wi-fi, gym access, and parking.
