Massachusetts may not be the largest state in the country, but what it lacks in square miles it more than makes up for in opportunities for families to learn, play and explore. To encourage families to take advantage of this bounty, the Massachusetts tourism board launched the MassValuePass, a downloadable card that gets you up to 25%—and in some cases more—off lodging, dining and attractions across the Bay
State. (You can also choose to
have a paperless pass emailed to your mobile phone.) Examples of the many money-saving opportunities for families
include:
- 25% off room rates at the Cape Codder Resort and Spa, with an indoor
wave pool and 80-foot water slide
- 20% off rates at Boston's historic Omni Parker House, set on the Freedom Trail and within an arm's reach of Hub favorites including Quincy Market, the Museum of Science, and ice skating on Boston Common's Frog Pond
- 25% off admission at Central Massachusetts’ EcoTarium, in Worcester, an
urban oasis indoor/outdoor museum with nature trails, hands-on
exhibits, digital planetarium and a treetops walk
- Free youth admission at the Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art, in Amherst, with the purchase of a $9 adult ticket. Founded by the bestselling author of The Very Hungry Caterpillar and nearly 70 other books, the museum
boasts a number of kid-tastic exhibits, programs and storyhours—plus plenty
of appeal for grown-ups.
- 50% off a second night at the upscale Cranwell Resort, set in the Berkshire Mountains. The offer is good for stays from November 1 to December 15, when the entire
family can try out cross-country skiing, sledding, or just warm up in the heated
indoor pool.
- 50% off
admission, 50% off one gift shop purchase, and 50% off one regularly-priced
program at the 47
wildlife sanctuaries that are part of Mass Audubon
