Save 40% with Lake Tahoe's amazing race

Ready for ski season? Willing to move quickly to snag an awesome deal? The Village at Squaw Valley hopes you're so excited for a big pile of snow that you're willing to race for it—if, thankfully, not on skis. As of now, the ski resort in California's Lake Tahoe is launching a solid sale: The first 100 people who book a stay between January 3 and April 10, 2010, can save 40% on their condo-style lodgings. Regular prices for a weekend in late January range from just under $300 to about $700 a night; a studio (with bed and sleeper sofa) comes in at $289 a night, while a one-bedroom with den (including two sleeper sofas) costs $369. The savings translate from $230 to $300 for two nights in the studio or one bedroom, or $560 in savings for two nights in a three-bedroom. Condos come with a kitchen, fireplace, balcony, TV/DVD and in-room Internet.

While Squaw Valley's ski resort has serious street cred for extreme skiers, it also plays nice with beginners. A full 25% of the 4,000 acres of terrain is novice-friendly, while the Squaw Kid Children's Center devotes 12,000 square feet for teaching and playing with skiers ages 3 to 12. Off-mountain fun includes ice skating, snowshoeing and snowtubing. Apres-ski in the village means chill time in the spa, wine tastings, and a kid-magnet adventure area with a climbing wall and giant trampoline.

The fine print: You have to book at least two nights to get the 40%-off rate. After the discount, you'll pay 12% in taxes and resort fees. Blackout dates include January 8-9, MLK Weekend (January 15-18) and President's Week (February 13-17). Enter EBO in the promotion code box, or call the reservations line at 866/818-6963.
