One more reason to love autumn travel: In many destinations, when temperatures start to fall, so do hotel rates. One fall deal that caught our eye: The Four Seasons Resort Scottsdale at Troon North is offering a "Stay Longer — Third Night Free" deal that gives a free night when you stay three consecutive nights in September.
When we test-booked the deal for a three-night getaway in early November, the nightly rate for a 480-square-foot Deluxe Casita Room dropped from $295 to $197--a difference of almost $100 a night. Instead of paying $885 for three nights, the vacation costs $590 plus the 11.92% room tax.
More good news: Four Seasons stands out among luxury chains for throwing in a slew of value-added perks, including free meals for kids 5 and under, a complimentary Kids for All Seasons club, and free self-parking. At other luxury brands, a family could easily pay over $100 a day for the combined charges for these three services. The 210-room Four Season Resort Scottsdale at Troon North is nestled in the foothills of Pinnacle Peak and offers horseback riding, guided hikes, and an impressive array of pools—as well as kid-friendly activities, such as kickball games, movies, and treasure hunts.
