Many high-end resorts are doing some deep price-slashing these days, turning what might have been an over-the-top splurge into, well, a more imaginable splurge. Consider the Kahala Hotel & Resort in Honolulu, which is offering a Suite Chic deal that slices 30% off your rate plus gives you the fifth night free and an experience that is VIP all the way. You'll stay in a palatial Ko'olau Partial Ocean View or Koko Head Ocean Front suite and get a passal of posh perks, such as nightly turndown, complimentary cocktail and pupu hour, use of a private beach cabana, and pressing and packing/unpacking services. (Nothing like having a butler to let you know you're in a fancy place.) The deal also gives you a daily free buffet
breakfast for two (normally priced at $30/adult and $15/child, so
worth $60 a day or $300 in total).
The resort has an 800-foot beach, complimentary bicycles, free surf lessons, and a kids' clubs for ages 5 to 12 whose activities include bamboo-pole fishing, lei-making, crabbing and hula dancing (the club costs $35 for a half-day). The resort also offers a hands-on dolphin encounter program that starts at $175 per child.
How much will you save? For five-night stay in a 1,100-square-foot Ko'olau Partial OceanView suite, the deal brings the regular rate of $1,600 a night down to $1,120 a night. With the free fifth night, your total savings comes to $3,600 for the suite plus the $300 you'll save on five breakfasts. How much will you spend? $4,480 for five nights, which is 44% less than the $8,000 full price.
A cheaper way to go: Happily, you can experience this plush, 338-room resort for a lot less. The Mountain Family Values package also gives you a fifth night free, but in a more modest standard room in the Mountain or Mountain Lanai (with balcony) categories, which start at $505 a night. You also get breakfast for four (worth $90 daily, or $450 in total). The deal includes a Kids Flight Pack, which the resort will mail to you before you leave home. It contains a deck of "Go Fish" cards and other activities to keep kids busy on their flight. How much will you save? For a five-night stay in a Mountain room, you'll save $505 with the free fifth night plus $450 on five breakfasts. How much will you spend? $2,020 for five nights, which is 20% less than the $2,525 full price.
Both deals are available through December 20. Click on the deal you want when booking online or call 800/367-2525 and mention the deal by name.
