Kimpton Hotels are known for their chic boutique vibe, with sumptuous colors, urbane atmospheres, and downtown locales. But the small hotel chain nicely embraces families—letting parents feel they've arrived at a grown-up hotel (many properties offer evening wine tastings in the lobby) while also making kids feel they're not merely a threat to cool furniture. The Kimpton Kids program ensures that young guests get a toy or goodie at check-in, well-conceived kids’ menus at meal times, animal-print robes to wear in the room, and opinion-soliciting comment cards at check-out.
Kimpton’s new Pick and Play package brings these stylin' hotels well within reasonable price range, too. Good at 40-plus hotels around the US, the online offer includes rates starting at $129, $159, or $179, depending on the hotel. Along with that rate, you also get an extra perk—either free daily parking (often worth about $30 a night) or a dining credit worth $30 or $50 a day, or sometimes a choice between the two.
When we tested the offer, it was sometimes tough to score those promised rates (particularly if you need more than one bed in the room). But even so, we still found solid deals. When we checked the FireSky Resort & Spa in Scottsdale (which has two pools, including a beach-entry version), the promised $129 rate appeared. Though the regular "best rate" was $119, the package deal delivers a daily $50 dining credit, bringing the real rate down to $79. In Seattle, we tested the Hotel Monaco—an easy walk to Pike Place Market, the monorail and other great downtown sights—and found that the promised $179 rate showed up instead as $199 a night, yet the offer included a $30 dining credit—which still netted as a great deal compared to the the regular $299 nightly rate.
The package is good for Thursday through Sunday stays through September 7. Just enter the promo code DINE or PARK, depending on which perk is offered.
