Nestled in Virginia's Appalachian Mountains, The Homestead is an historic resort with a top-notch spa, world-class golf course, nightly movies shown in its own theater, and an award-winning kids' club. The property is known for its luxurious, traditional surroundings and an extensive roster of activities, from carriage rides, bowling, and horseback riding to skeet shooting and fly-fishing.
During the six-week-long "Cool Summer Savings" program, the resort will offer up a different deal each week (the catch is that you only have one week to book). First up: The "Family Fun Deluxe Package", with room rates starting at $245 a night. When we priced a two-night weekend stay in July, we found nightly room rates ranging from $245 for a standard room to $550 for a one-bedroom suite. The package rate is $20 more than the room-only rate, but look at all you get for that extra Andrew Jackson: Kids 12 and under eat free, plus you get a 50% discount on a raft of fun family activities (falconry, kayaking, hiking, carriage rides) as well as the kids' club.
Feeling decisive? Book the package before June 8 and The Homestead will throw in breakfast for two adults, plus a room upgrade at check-in.
