Captiva Island, FL: Book one night, get 50% off the rest

In 1931, a collection of fishing cottages began welcoming guests to a lush stretch of Florida’s Captiva Island, nestled between the Gulf of Mexico and Pine Island Sound. The ‘Tween Waters Inn Island Resort has come along way in the last 78 years, now spanning 13 beaches-to-bay acres and offering a blend of southern hospitality that's easygoing and family-friendly. There's a raftload of available activities, from swimming, kayaking, and biking to golf and tennis, plus the always-popular bonus of free breakfast.

Visit from now through October 10, and you can take advantage of ‘Tween Waters Inn's "Half Crazy" promotion. Book one night, Sunday through Thursday, at the regular rate and you get 50% off on every additional night.  When we priced a four-night stay in June for a family of two adults and two kids under age 12, we found rates starting at $180 a night for a standard room in the inn with a pool view. Other options include a one-bedroom bayside suite, which can be had for $255 a night.

Booking the least expensive option with the Half Crazy promotion, you'd spend $450 instead of $720 for four nights, for a savings of $270.  If you upgraded to a one-bedroom suite, you'd spend $638 instead of $1,020 for four nights, for a savings of $382. Either way, you're looking at a hefty 38% discount. And guess what? Spend longer than four nights, and that overall discount climbs even higher.

Note: There are some blackout dates, and the "Half Crazy" deal is only available if you book a room or one-bedroom suite—not for larger suites and cottages. Also, you can only book this rate by phone. Call 800/223-5865 and say you want the “Half Crazy” rate.

Captiva island is beautiful! I try to go with my family every other year. Here's a good website to find general information:
http://www.captivaisland.com/

For a shorter drive, we also go to Perdido Key in the panhandle, which is also beautiful.
