Saw it on ParentsConnect Local: Springtime in Atlanta

So long, gray winter skies. Hello, daffodils and birdsong. Nothing puts a spring in your step quite like a few well-chosen family outings.  We’re turning for inspiration to ParentsConnect Local, whose great events calendar features hundreds of spring happenings in more than 50 cities around the country. Here's a sample of what we found on the calendar for Atlanta:

Flashlight Easter Egg Hunt:  Grab a flashlight (or purchase one for $2) and head to Nash Farm Battlefield for this unique take on a traditional favorite for kids ages 2-12. The Easter Bunny will be on hand for pictures with the kids.  Kids can get their faces painted, and concessions are available.  Free admission and activities, $10 for photos with the Easter Bunny.  (April 3, Easter bunny photos 5pm-6:30pm, egg hunt 7pm for ages 2-5, sundown for kids 6-12; 770/288-7300)

Earth Day Kids Fest at the Chattahoochee Nature Center:  Captain Planet kicks off this Earth Day festival, where activities include education stations, arts and crafts, and displays from a wide selection of nature centers, environmental and education organizations. Admission $5 for kids age 3 and up, free for children 2 and under, or ride your bike from home and get in free.  (April 18, 10am-3pm; 770/992-2055 ext 224)

National Junior Ranger Day at Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park:  Your budding park ranger can try on the job during this day filled with activities including Civil War-era games, face painting, a costume contest, art competition, and photos with Kenny, the Kennesaw Bison. Free for ages 3-18. (April 25, 9:30am-3pm; 770/427-4686)
