Deal or no deal? El Paso Holiday Inn "Stay Real" package

Sometimes the best thing about a weekend getaway is the change of scenery and—if you can get it—some space for sprawling. That’s partly what drew us to Holiday Inn El Paso-Sunland’s new "Stay Real" package, which promises an adjoining room for the kids plus fun extras for as little as $129 a night. The deal includes:

  • Two adjoining standard rooms (standard rate starts at $89 a night; so worth $178)
  • In-room movie with popcorn ($18 if ordered on your own)
  • Two pizzas and a pitcher of soda ($29 from hotel restaurant)
  • Breakfast for two adults normally about $17 (kids under 12 eat breakfast free anyway, so worth $0 extra)

The 176-room hotel, which looks out onto the Franklin Mountains, recently got a makeover, from triple-sheeting on the beds to your choice of pillows and a dandy new sign out front, in keeping with the iconic logo’s subtle update. (An eco-friendly twist: The hotel’s former linens all went to a local children’s crisis center, rather than a landfill.)

While its proximity to Juarez, Mexico, has been a tourist perk in the past—and hopefully will be again in the future, when south-of-the-border troubles ease—this locale still offers a fun family weekend which might include the El Paso Zoo, a local horse track, amusement park, outlet shopping, great Mexican food—and, of course, the hotel pool.

Deal or no deal? Indeed, they’re keepin’ it real. Given the rack rate for the dates we checked is $89 a night, you’re getting the second room for just $40—saving $49 from the get-go, even before you count the breakfast, movie, and all that ’za, which all adds another $64 in value. Impressively, the added value comes to a whopping 88% of the price.

The deal is available Thursday to Sunday nights until April 30. Book online or call 915/833-2900 or 888/465-4329 (888/HOLIDAY) and ask for the Stay Real package.
