Winter rates at Zion National Park, from $80 a night

Looking for an affordable and unforgettable winter family getaway idea? Heed no. 10 in our recession travel rules  and discover our parks systems. Wintertime in Utah's Zion National Park is a wonderful season, when crowds thin out and you can enjoy less congested hiking and horseback riding on 200 miles of trails surrounded by spectacular 2000-foot canyon walls. Normally a room at the in-park Zion Lodge starts at about $153 a night, but if you visit between December 1 and March 15, 2009, you can take advantage of a winter promotion that lowers the nightly rate to just $80 on weekdays and $95 on weekends. You can book online or call 888/297-2757 and be sure to mention code WNTR. Note: The rate increases to $105 a night during the holidays (December 23-30 and February 13-15, 2009) and New Year's Eve is a blackout date.
