Tomorrow is Junior Ranger Day in our national parks, a reminder what a fabulously family-friendly resource we have in our National Park System. Can't make it to a park tomorrow? No worries. The Junior Ranger program is available all summer long (and sometimes longer) in 297 of our National Parks and each one is specifically tailored to engage children in the history, ecology, and wildlife of that specific park. Children receive an activity book that leads the family to those areas of the park with the most kid appeal. Along the way, kids learn fun trivia and complete questions as they explore. When completed, they present their booklets to a ranger to earn a patch or badge and a certificate. As you're planning your trip, check out the WebRangers web site, a fun, interactive before-you-go resource for kids and parents alike!
And don't forget to check out what's going on at your state parks this summer. Many of them have Junior Ranger programs, too!
